If you’re going to Paris by airplane, chances are that you’ll be arriving at Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport. It’s the biggest airport of Paris, located 40km away from the city.

You’ll see on this site that we appreciate the Paris transportation system to its real value, a great way to visit the city. But sadly, this isn’t the case with CDG airport, which is hard to use, and the personell from the information counters are a bit clueless if you need to take a less known airline. The instructions to get to the terminal you need can be confusing, and sometimes you can get lost going from one terminal to another, trying to find the one you’re supposed to be leaving from. It’s been known to happen, if you don’t know exactly what terminal you’re leaving from.

In our case, the taxi driver that took us to the airport stopped at a gas station that had a board with all the flights, and the terminals they were leaving from, so we got where we needed to.

Another thing you should watch out is the bathroom situation once you’re past security. There aren’t any. So watch what you drink before you go there, it might be a while before you board the plane and you can go to the bathroom.

Getting from CDG to the Eiffel Tower in Paris and back

By Cab
The price for the cab was between 50 and 60 euros in both ocassions. This fare was for a trip between CDG and my hotel, located in the vicinity of the Eiffel tower. You can find cabs as you exit the terminal. You will probably see a queue and you have to wait your turn to get a cab.

Via Metro/RER
You can get the RER B (blue) train from either Terminal 1 or 2, in the direction of Antony, which is towards Paris. When you get to the St-Michel Notre Dame station, switch to the RER C train (yellow line), in the Versailles-Rive Gauche direction. You can get off at Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel station.

Using the Roissy Bus
You can take the Roissy Bus that goes to the Opera, and switch to a cab that will take you to the Eiffel Tower from there.

Taking the AirFrance Bus
The AirFrance bus will take you to the Arch de Triomphe, and the cab will cost you 10 euros from there to Eiffel Tower.
